Paul Rodrigues is a Managing Member at Trace Forensic Experts LLC, overseeing national operations and leading TRACE's presence in the Greater Milwaukee, Greater Madison, and Wisconsin markets.
With over 30 years in the accounting profession, he holds certifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and holds a Master’s Degree in Taxation. Paul is also Certified in Financial Forensics.
Paul began his career at a big four public accounting firm and has since been involved in numerous forensic, fraud, and litigation engagements as an expert witness or consultant. His work has spanned Federal and State courts, arbitration, and mediation, focusing on issues such as accounting standards, improper entries, lost profits, income determinations, asset valuation, and damages ranging from $1 million to $250 million.
His expertise covers civil and criminal litigation for plaintiffs and defendants, including complex matters like civil RICO, securities fraud, bribery, and internal investigations. Paul has conducted hundreds of fraud/embezzlement interviews, resulting in numerous confessions. He has also led forensic accounting engagements for US and India-based companies across diverse industries including construction, manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and more.
Paul's experience extends to bankruptcy litigation, corporate liquidations, restructurings, and receiverships, serving clients ranging from commercial entities to state and federal government agencies such as the US Department of Justice and Wisconsin DOJ. He has been appointed as a forensic accounting examiner by the US Bankruptcy Court and has collaborated with the FBI and IRS Criminal divisions on various cases.
A former member of the AICPA Litigation Services Task Force, Paul co-authored AICPA’s Practice Aid 10-1, “Serving as an Expert Witness or Consultant,” a definitive resource on forensic accounting and the CPA's role in litigation.
He is an active lecturer, teaching at the Master's degree level and conducting seminars for financial, accounting, and legal trade groups. Paul has authored numerous articles for publications including the American Bar Association Section of Litigation, Wisconsin Law Journal, and the ACFE's Fraud Examiner Newsletter.
